Guided
Keyword Search
Guided Keyword Search allows you to fill in the blanks and select
from drop down menus to build a more specific search.

1. Click the
button to limit results by date, location, format, etc. The Limits
help page gives useful information for each type of limit.
2. Type in the search term(s) you want
to find in the Search: box.
3. Use the dropdown box to request
that the terms be searched as:
- A phrase (exactly as typed)
- All of these (Boolean AND, narrows
the set)
- Any of these (Boolean OR, makes
the set bigger)
4. Use the In: dropdown box where you wish
the terms to be searched: (Keywords Anywhere, Title, Author Name, etc).
5. Click the button to choose which operator is
needed to connect the next search terms. AND OR NOT
6. Repeat steps #2-5, as needed, for all additional
Search boxes.
7. (Optional) Use the drop-down box to change the
number of records displayed per page.
8. Click the
button to begin the search. Click
button to clear the search page.
General Hints for Guided Search:
- Limits should be set before clicking
the Search button.
- Closely examine the drop-down menu options before
entering search terms. Be certain the proper categories are selected
for each drop down menu.
- Search terms are automatically truncated, there
is no need for question mark (?) symbol.
- If you don't find what you want, try another
type of search or ask a reference librarian for assistance
